Food Review: Blitzburger, New Brunswick, NJ, USA

20130827_184658

If you haven’t gone to BlitzBurger ever or you just don’t remember the last time you went, it’s time for you to go to BlitzBurger.

They amped up their menu, which I didn’t think was even possible.  They spiced up their recipes and they still have the olde gems that makes me believe that a Food God exsists.

Their bread alone makes me want to come back for more. They toast it without questions and the warmth of the buns cradles the patty and all the toppings in such a loving way. The patty is on point. The ingredients taste fresh and it’s all at a price you can afford.

Also, their bacon is crisp and not like that cheap garbage that slaps you back in the face with a fist of sauce after a bite. Their bacon thanks you for your patronage with a mouth full of flavor and delicious delight.

Take for example my dinner for tonight: The Texas Cowboy Burger.

I added their Signature Hot Sauce but this burger will be good as its original self.

Stop into Blitz before I eat all of their food.

5 Things To Remember On The First Day Of Anything

ImageToday was the first day of my internship and it marks the beginning of my senior year of college.  With the stress of my last year of college starting and my first day at my internship ending, I have 5 pieces of advice to get you through the first day of anything you begin.

  1. Organize and Take Notes- You’re going to want to take down as much information as possible in note form.  This will prepare you for the future at this endeavor and will keep you from losing your head!
  2. Prioritize- Never put your personal life any where near your First Day.  You’re going to want to have a clear head for your brain to be as alert as possible.   This means leave your phone in your purse/desk/locker and keep your thoughts all on the business.
  3. Energize- In order to to keep focused, you’re going to want to make sure you’re as alert as possible.  Whether you take the caffeine route or just catch a couple more hours of sleep, it will do you a world of good.
  4. Don’t Be Hard On Yourself– It’s your first day.  You’re human and you’re bound to make mistakes.  If you’re having trouble: talk to a coworker or superior.   They will know how you’re feeling and they will want to have you do everything right the first time rather than have you making constant mistakes.
  5. Have Fun– Make conversation in the coffee room or ask someome advice on where to lunch.  If you don’t know how to strike up a conversation naturally, just ask questions about the other person.  People love talking about themselves and they’ll appreciate you taking an interest in their lives outside of work/school.  When you establish a life for yourself outside of work with your coworkers, they’ll consider you a person beyond your office/cube/class/workplace; which everyone is!

Now go through your first day with these tips in mind and you’ll be a natural at whatever you’re doing in no time.

Top 5 College Kitchen Necessities

Living in a college apartment can mean a number of things: grime, burnt food, overflowing recycle bin.  If you’re looking to step away from the norm and into the elite, follow this guidance in preparing your college kitchen… with a cheaper version attached for those on a budget.

Ice Cube Trays/Bags of Ice

ice

If ice is what makes or breaks your budget, you can obviously do without.  However, ice is an accessory that any drink can use- whether it be alcoholic or non.  Being impatient might sway you to buy a bag of ice any time you’re thinking of entertaining but a wise investment would be a few ice trays.  Grab any freezer-friendly container and you can stock up in your spare time.

Whenever your parents are complaining you don’t ever do anything at school, you’ll now have a great stand by: You’re making ice.

Quality Knife Set/One “Really Good,” Big Knife

knives

I cannot advise you enough: A Top Notch Set of Knives does a world of wonders in your cooking schemes.  If you have room in your budget, do splurge with a quality set.  If you’re on a budget: One Really Good Knife.  That’s survival mode but whether you’re cooking or scared that the monsters in the kitchen closet are coming to get you, it’ll go a long way.

Coffee Maker/French Press

pots

The Coffee Maker is a very basic item that most college students don’t think to have because the dining halls are down the street or you’d prefer the Starbucks or Dunkin Donut shops.  When calculating how much you spend on coffee daily, you’ll realize that you could be spending that money elsewhere.  Making your coffee at home will save you a ton and it opens up 24-Hour One-Stop-Shop for all your caffeine needs.

If you’re trying to scrimp your bucks, go for a French Press.  You’ll need a finer coffee ground but it’s a trendy item that oozes sophistication and class.

Crock Pot/Large Pot

pots

Whether or not you don a chef’s hat, a crock pot will make you the King of the Kitchen.  Set it and forget it and you’ll be surprised at how delicious your meal is when dinner time comes around.  You really can’t mess up your dish when you’re crocking.  Add whatever veggies or meats you have handy, add some broth or wines or any splashes of alcohol you think would add a nice flavor, and then walk away.

Just walk away and come back in five or six hours.

A stew or soup (depending on how much liquid you decided on) will greet you when you return.

If you’re not looking for such a lazy way of cooking: buy deep cooking pot.  These are perfect for Chilies and Sunday Sauces.  Basically, the same rules apply but you’re going to need to be on standby to give it all a stir every half-hour or so.

Vitamix/Blender

blenders

The Vitamix is not just a blender.  It honestly is a way of life and I’m sure there are a few cults worshiping it somewhere.  Expensive, yes, but probably the most durable, powerful, and satisfying blender I have ever met.

If you’re on a budget, any blender will do the things you want it to do: drinks -alcoholic and non-, sauces, and shakes.   This kitchen accessory is on the more extravagant side for a college kitchen but if you more-than-enjoy fresh juices and shakes: it’s practically a necessity.

Back to School Fashion: Top 3 Fall Fashion Must Haves

Whether you’re in high school or college: trendy, classic, fall must-haves are the same across the board.  Every Fall Season is all about the layers and leather.

The Leather Jacket

Brown or black, buttons or zippers: A Leather Jacket is the perfect piece to complete any Fall look.  The Jacket pairs well with straight-legged or skinny jeans, dark pants, or skirts.

The Knit Tight

tights

A knit tight is warmer than the sheer stocking and adds the option to add a creative edge to any outfit.  Wear under an above-the-knee short or any skirt for a warmer, bold look.  Wear with closed-toed heels or your favorite leather boot.

The Black Leather Boot

Boots

The Black Leather boot bodes for any outfit.  The only detail to keep in mind: Boot Length.  With a very tight pant, go for a higher boot.  With a wider leg pant, go for booties or below the knee cut.  Only go for a heel height you are comfortable with or your look will be a flop.

If you want to push the envelope, an above-the-knee boot can pair well with a skirt but remember less is more when it comes to skin during the fall season- add a knit tight!

Remember, the Fall Season is all about layers and warmth.  A chilly fall day may come out of no where, so it’s best to be prepared with the warm, timeless essentials.

The Challenge: Rivals II Episode 4

Mortuusequusphobia.

To be abnormally afraid of ketchup and the title of this episode.

On a side note, I am offended this phobia even exists.  It is an insult to Ketchup Lovers everywhere.

How does this pan out through the episode?

To begin with, there is the normal Diem loves CT drama.  AKA: Diem gets jealous, cries about her love, won’t make a move, and then makes out with him.

This has nothing to do with Ketchup.

So when the drama of Nany flirting with CT blows up, rumor gets around that Diem made a rap about it.  Oooh.

Are you kidding me?  This has nothing to do with Ketchup.

The teams go through amaze for a challenge with wooden poles attached to their wrists.

Paula and Emily win it for the girls and escape the Elimination.  Big Surprise.

And them Diem and Anessa’s old behinds don’t won’t to go in the Elimination Challenge.  I mean, they could break a hip so it is really an issue.

They’re only about thirty years old, but that’s beyond the expiration date of their reality television claim to fame.  The milk has gone bad.

But, where does Ketchup come in?

Turns out Knows-Nothing-Jemmye has a Ketchup phobia.

And Knight decides to enact his revenge on Jemmye for a hook-up she has yet to hook with Leroy through slapping some Ketchup on her back…

A preemptive strike, what have you.

He does it because he “will always love Jemmye.”  The kind of love that makes you throw the Apple Of Your Eye’s greatest fear onto their body.

And then Leroy moves “On To The Next” no-name-challenge-contestant.  The sun sets and arises a new.

End Result of this episode?  No one gets sent home.

Probably because Trishelle The Quitter ditched last episode and that was one Women’s Team already eliminated.

And then there’s some more CT/Diem butt touching to close the episode.
