Once upon a time ago, I stumbled upon a chili recipe that had people asking for an invite while I posted the cooking progress on Facebook.
What You’ll Need:
1 Can of Crushed Tomatoes
1 Can of Fire Roasted Tomatoes
1 Can of Diced Tomatoes
1 Can of Kidney Beans
1 Can of Pinto Beans
1 Can of Black Beans
1 Large Onion
3-4 Cloves of Garlic
1 Pound of Bacon
2 Pounds of Ground Beef
How to Serve:
1.) Beans And Tomatoes.
I went with Bush because they have a talking dog in their commercials.
You’re going to want to cook your bacon until it gets a beautiful seasoned look with a crispy edge. No exact measurements necessary, just try and give an equal amount of each.
1 TBSP of each can do the trick for all of the bacon if you’re a worry-wart.
3.) Bacon With A Side Of Bacon.
Continue to cook all of your bacon. This is a bacon chili, for crying out loud.
4.) Caramelize Onions And Garlic In The Bacon Grease.
Mince your garlic and chop your onion into small bits. Mix the combination in with the grease and seasoning left over from the bacon cooking rounds.
5.) Throw In Your Beef.
Brown it, season it, mix it in with the garlicky onions. Add more of the same seasonings (1 TSP of each) but with this round, you can add some salt and pepper if you prefer.
6.) Chop Your Bacon On The Side.
Throw Everything Into A BIG Pot.
You’ll want everything to have a chance to get acquainted.
7.) Everything’s Turning Up Tomato.
Throw all of your tomato products in (with their juices).
9.) Add The Pinto Beans.
Same as the Black Beans: Strain and Rinse.
10.) Add The Kidney Beans.
Same Bean Protocol: STRAIN AND RINSE. After this round, you might want to add more of the hotter seasonings (or some straight hot sauce) if you prefer a more intense chili experience.
Once you have finished, your friends will start appearing out of no where and your roommates will suddenly be sitting at your dining room table.
